1. General

FlashFade ("the app") is developed by Quang Chien ("we", "us", "our"), an independent developer based in Vietnam. This Privacy Policy is written to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR 2016/679) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

If you choose to use our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. Any information collected is used strictly for providing and improving the Service, such as controlling the flashlight, serving advertisements, and diagnosing crashes. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

The app has no user accounts and no login. We never ask you for your name, email address, phone number, or postal address, and there is no sign-in with Google or any other provider. If you have any questions, contact us at quangchiennnn@gmail.com.

2. Data Collection and Usage

The app provides flashlight control with hardware-level brightness adjustment, SOS signaling, Morse code transmission, interval flashing, Quick Settings tile integration, and volume-button toggle. The sections below describe exactly what stays on your device and what is transmitted.

2.1 Stays On Your Device

The following is stored only on your device. It is not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and it is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.

  • App preferences such as preferred brightness level, Quick Settings tile mode, volume-button toggle state, theme, language, instant flash settings, and interval/BPM configurations.
  • Device capability information used to determine supported brightness levels and flash hardware features.
  • Morse code text input is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted off your phone.

2.2 Sent Off Your Device

The app uses minimal network communication. The following may be transmitted by Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or other third-party services:

  • Device identifiers, such as pseudonymous installation identifiers used by analytics and crash reporting providers.
  • App interactions, such as which screens are opened and which features are used.
  • Crash logs and diagnostics, which may include your device model, operating system version, the configuration of the app at the time of an error, the time and date of use, IP address, and similar statistics.

2.3 What We Do Not Collect

  • No location data. The app does not request or use any location permission.
  • No personal identifiers. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, address, contacts, calendar, messages, or browsing history.
  • No photos, videos, or audio. The app uses the FLASHLIGHT permission exclusively for torch control — it cannot capture images, video, or audio.
  • All features are free. Every flashlight feature is available at no cost; users can choose to use the app with ads (subject to UMP consent) or purchase Premium to remove ads.

2.4 Third-Party Service Providers

The app uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify your device. These services help us support Google Play platform features and analyze app usage, reliability, and performance. Review their policies for details:

3. Application Permissions

To enable its features, the app declares the following permissions. We use them only to serve the app's functions and to comply with Google Play policies.

  • FLASHLIGHT — Access the device flashlight hardware to control the torch, including multi-level brightness adjustment via Camera2 API.
  • VIBRATE — Provide haptic feedback on brightness slider changes, Morse code transmission, and SOS signaling.
  • INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Load optional advertisements (after consent), verify optional ad-removal purchases, and send anonymous crash diagnostics through Firebase.
  • com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID — Used by Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) subject to your regional consent preferences (GDPR/UMP) when using the free ad-supported mode.
  • com.android.vending.BILLING — Used by Google Play Billing so you can optionally purchase Premium to remove advertisements.
  • BIND_QUICK_SETTINGS_TILE (service) — Register the Quick Settings tile so you can toggle or step-dim the flashlight directly from the notification shade.

4. Volume-Button Shortcut (In-App Only)

FlashFade offers an optional in-app volume-button shortcut that lets you toggle the flashlight by pressing both Volume Up and Volume Down simultaneously while the app is open on screen. This feature uses standard Android Activity key events (onKeyDown / dispatchKeyEvent) and does not use or request the Android AccessibilityService API or any background key interception permissions.

5. How Information Is Used

  • App functionality. Provide flashlight control, brightness presets, Quick Settings tile behavior, and SOS/Morse/ interval features.
  • Analytics. Understand which features are used, monitor crashes and performance, and fix problems in the app.

We will never sell your information, and we will never use it to market unrelated products to you.

6. Data Sharing

The app does not currently share data with advertising networks or third-party data brokers. Analytics events and crash diagnostics may be shared with Firebase and Google solely to improve the app.

7. Managing Your Data

You can stop all data processing by the app by uninstalling it, using the standard uninstall process on your device. This also permanently removes everything the app stored locally, including preferences, brightness settings, and language selections.

8. Data Security

The privacy of your data matters to us. The app currently stores all user data on-device only. If network-transmitted data is introduced in the future, it will be sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  • App preferences, brightness settings, and language selections are stored only on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.

9. Your Rights

  • Right of access. You may request details about any personal data processed in connection with the app.
  • Right to rectification. You may ask us to correct data that is incorrect, inaccurate, or incomplete.
  • Right to withdraw consent. You may withdraw consent at any time, including consent for personalized ads.
  • Right to erasure. You may request deletion of your data where applicable.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at quangchiennnn@gmail.com.

10. Children's Privacy

This Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it from our systems immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take the necessary action.
